Information About Our Proposal and Bid for the 2017 Convention

We have been asked a lot of questions about our proposed convention bid; so many that it's way too many to realistically respond to each one individually.  Through this forum we can reveal some information about our proposed convention and respond to many of the questions in a more efficient manner.

So here it is

What location is proposed in our bid - Orlando, FL

Why Orlando - Orlando is centrally located.  It started with Walt Disney.  If you look around the internet you'll find clips of the Wonderful World of Disney episode where he announced Orlando as the choice for Disneyworld.  Walt pointed out that it was centrally located at the junction of I-4 and The Florida Turnpike both of which connected to I-95 & I-75.  Today Orlando is one of the most affordable travel destinations in the country.  It's the #2 convention location in the US.  Some Orlando/Central Florida statistics:
  • More than 5,000 restaurants and that number doesn't include fast food locations
  • Enough Retail Space to fill NFL 615 football stadiums
  • Orlando is the second largest convention host city in the US (behind Las Vegas)
  • Orlando is the most visited destination in the U.S.
  • In 2012 more than 55 million people visited Orlando.  Nearly 4 million were international visitors.
  • More than three million people attend conventions and conferences in central Florida every year
  • There are more than 115,000 hotel rooms available
  • The Orange County Convention Center is ranked second in the United States in terms of exhibition space with more than 2.1 million-square-feet and 479,000 square feet of meeting rooms
  • There is more than 4.6 million square feet of meeting space in Orlando

Obviously the location is well suited to any kind of conference or meeting.
